No this is a common error with the new Windows Live mail beta - sadly part of the ongoing tuning being made to the system.
The advise given by Msn technical help is to:
Opt out of the new beta service via the mail option menu.
Then upgrade again via your switch back (old hotmail view) account.
This is simple, yet is a pain to do.
